COVID-19: What you need to know

As you are all aware, recent government guidelines instructed all caravan parks to close in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. A small number of exceptions were made where people were unable to leave due to being extremely vulnerable or if they were a key worker. These exceptions have been allowed, and in most cases were requested by our local Councils.Anyone who has now left site must not return under any circumstances. This has been the very clear message given by the UK government.

In order for us to return to normal as soon as possible, we must follow the instructions given. Those who choose to disregard these instructions and travel unnecessarily will be refused access to site. Anyone refusing to leave will be reported for unnecessary travel. We are very much looking forward to reopening our sites when we are given permission to do so.Please stay safe, please stay at home.

GENERAL UPDATE - 24th March 2020

Today has been an extremely difficult day for many of our owners, guests and staff. Our instructions from the Welsh Government are that all caravan parks are closed until further notice. Further details can be found via the following link:

Despite the huge challenges, we have been left overwhelmed by the response from our customers. The level of understanding has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Most owners and guests should have now returned home, and we would like to thank them again for their support. Any owners who are yet to travel back to their primary address should aim to make the journey first thing tomorrow.
In order to provide some peace of mind, please note the following answers to key questions we have been asked:
Q. Will my electric be left on whilst I’m away from site?
A. Yes, no services will be restricted during this time.
Q. Are security still working following the governments advice to stay at home on 23rd March?
A. Absolutely. We have been informed that our security team are essential workers, and can continue working as long as the social distancing guidelines are being followed. Please rest assured, they are actively patrolling all sites and CCTV to keep everywhere safe and secure.
Q. I’m a keyworker, can I stay on site?
A. We are more than happy to help all keyworkers who are helping us all stay safe during this pandemic. Any NHS staff and care home support workers are able to remain on site whilst they work in the area. We would be grateful if these incredible people could contact our friendly team on 01745 362020 so we may collect some information.

Following the Government’s announcement this evening, it follows that the country has been placed on lock down in order to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.In order to comply with the Government’s directive, all owners and visitors must return immediately to their principal homes in order to prevent further spread of the virus.

No doubt, this is a decision the Government has not taken lightly; although we are sure you will all agree that we must all do our part to assist in the fight against this virus, even if this means leaving the Parks in the short term.

Please rest assured Lyons Holiday Parks will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and as soon as it is deemed safe for owners and visitors to return, then Lyons Holiday Parks will issue a further statement in this respect.

We are aware that many people are becoming increasingly concerned with regards to their upcoming holidays given the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Lyons Holiday Parks are continuing to monitor advice given by the UK government and NHS in order to protect the health and wellbeing of everyone concerned. The company understand that many people still wish to spend time in holiday homes, whilst adhering to the ongoing guidelines
Following recent board discussions, we can confirm that all sites will be closing to holiday makers on Tuesday 24th March 2020 . Understandably some will be disappointed that we have chosen this course of action, however we are confident everyone is in agreement this is the right step to take in order to interrupt the spread of COVID-19 and decrease the burden on our local health authorities. We hope it will be a short term closure and that everyone can soon return to enjoying all of the facilities Lyons Holiday Parks have available.

At this time, the closure will run until 30th April 2020. This timeframe may be reduced if relevant advice permits and similarly may be extended should the situation remain.
For any guests due to join us for a holiday during this period, we are offering a deferment with no additional fees (up to the value of the existing booking). We know guests will be looking forward to a well-deserved break once the worst has passed! For any guest wishing to cancel their holiday booking, we can offer a full refund on any breaks due to begin between 24th March 2020 and 30th April 2020.

The sun is shining and the schools have broken up, but in the interest of all our owners, guests and staff, we would ask you to ensure that UK government guidance on social distancing is being followed by you and your children. Children do not understand the risks of playing closely, and therefore we are asking parents and guardians to help us keep the risk of contracting and/or spreading COVID-19 as low as possible by keeping them under constant supervision.

The health and well-being of our owners, guests and staff are of paramount importance to us, and therefore will cannot allow any guest to self-isolate if they are displaying symptoms of COVID-19. Any guests that may find it difficult to return home without using public transport or friends should consider vacating their caravan now whilst they are able to utilise such services.

If you believe anyone on site is currently self-isolating, we would ask you to report it to us by calling our friendly team on 01745 362020. Whilst we are following the current guidance on social distancing, we would also ask you to call the office with any day to day enquires rather than visiting in person. This includes gas bottle requests and fault reporting.

Q. Are your parks open?

A. Yes, at this time the parks are all open for the entire 2020 season in order to allow guests and owners a place to enjoy themselves during this unsettling time. All of our accommodation availability remains unchanged. Our accommodation options continue to operate as normal and our on-park shops will remain open for guests to use. Our parks are located in beautiful locations, from the sea front to the heart of the countryside; providing guests with the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air whilst they holiday with us. Q. What precautions are Lyons Holiday Parks taking during this time?

Q. Why are you open? Why not just close to be safe?

A. We are closely monitoring the situation on a daily basis. At this time we are satisfied that by following the UK government and NHS guidelines, we can continue to provide a safe environment for guests and owners wishing to find some enjoyment during these unsettling times. Q. I want to book for later in the year, but what if I need to amend it?

A. If you want to book, please do so! We look forward to seeing all of this seasons guests enjoy our parks. We’ve even altered our booking terms and conditions until further notice to ensure there are no additional booking fees for any date changes required.


Q. Who do I contact about my existing booking?

A. If you have any concerns regarding your booking, please ring 01745 362 020 and our friendly team will be able to help put your mind at rest. Q. Are all park facilities open?

A. Due to recent UK government advice and NHS guidelines, we have restricted certain facilities on our parks. This includes the closure of all restaurants & cafes, bars & show bars, arcades, swimming pools, gymnasiums and spas. This decision has been made in order to protect the health and welfare of our guests, owners and staff and follows advice on social distancing. Q. Can I self-isolate on park?

A. Unfortunately not. All of our parks are classed as holiday sites and are not residential. All owners are required to have a permanent residence as per our Pitch Licence Agreement. If you or any family member staying on site are displaying symptoms, you are required to return home in order to self-isolate as per the current guidelines. We must insist that any guests and/or owners refrain from visiting any parks for the relevant period of time should they present any symptoms or if they have recently returned from any affected area abroad.


Q. What if I develop symptoms and cannot return home due to lack of transport?

A. Whilst we appreciate there are many factors which may cause difficulty to some of our guests and owners, we must ensure the safety of everyone at our parks. If you are having trouble making your way home, we would ask you to contact our friendly team on 01745 362020. We will do all we can to assist you in finding suitable travel arrangements back to a suitable self-isolation location.


Q. If you won’t allow me on site whilst I self-isolate, can I receive a refund on my site-fees?

A. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to self-isolate, we recommend you speak with your home insurance provider or, if appropriate, your travel insurer. Lyons Holiday Parks are unfortunately unable to reimburse any site fees due to illness. The primary reason for this is that your site fees are paid in return for Lyons Holiday Parks providing a service. Regrettably, if an owner cannot enjoy the service due, for example, to that owner displaying COVID-19 symptoms, it follows that Lyons Holiday Parks will still need to provide the service to the other owners or visitors to the Parks.


Q. What if I’m over 70 and need to self-isolate as a precaution only?

A. We require any guest or owner, regardless of age or reason, to vacate their van and site in order to self-isolate. There are no exceptions to this unfortunately.

Lyons Holiday Parks Limited have regrettably had to take the decision to close the swimming pools on its Parks. This decision has not been taken lightly; however, it is a necessary step that has had to be taken in order to promote the Government’s guidance to reduce all unnecessary gatherings in an attempt to stem the flow of COVID-19.

Please rest assured Lyons Holiday Parks Limited will continue to monitor the situation so that the swimming pools can be re-opened at the earliest opportunity.

Lyons Holiday Parks Limited will not allow owners or visitors to the Park to remain in a caravan as part of any form of self-isolation.

Please note any form of self-isolation must take place in the owners or visitors’ own homes.

The Park is meant for owners and visitors to use for holiday purposes. It is not fair to other owners or visitors if people selfishly try to self-isolate in a caravan.

The Park needs to be an area where owners and visitors can come to hopefully escape COVID-19 rather than be exposed to even greater prospects of contracting the virus.

This request must be complied with; there will be no exceptions.

Please note that any attempt to self-isolate in a caravan will be taken by Lyons Holiday Parks Limited as a breach of your pitch licence agreement.

We understand and appreciate that there is a feeling of uncertainty, given the situation around Coronavirus (COVID-19).

There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at any of our parks. We remain open in order to provide enjoyment to our usual high standards in customer service and care. We will continue to provide updates should the situation change at any of our parks, or should changes occur to any future holiday bookings.


Holiday enjoyment is not on hold

Despite the current situation we aim to deliver fun filled holidays.

If you are due to arrive at one of our parks for a holiday any time soon, we would like to reassure you that all members of staff are taking actions to ensure that the risk to our guests, owners and staff is minimised.

We have increased our cleaning schedule to include regular disinfection of frequently touched surfaces including but not exclusive to; arcade machines, reception and bar counters, door handles and access keypads.

Each member of our team has received comprehensive guidance on keeping our guests, owners and team as safe as possible during this period. Posters detailing this advice are displayed in all areas where staff work.

We are doing our best to ensure that every visitor to any of our parks understands how we can all work as a team to reduce the risk of contracting and/or spreading COVID-19. Protecting yourself and your family

We would like to suggest that all visitors to our parks follow the advice, as recommended by the NHS. This includes but is not exclusive to; regularly washing hands for 20 seconds, covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when you cough or sneeze and avoiding close contact with people who are unwell.

Don’t worry about your booking

Due to the unique circumstances we have decided to make adjustments to our booking policy until further notice to give you peace of mind that your booking is in safe hands:

-         Existing Reservations: All reservations scheduled for arrival before 30th April 2020 can be changed at no additional cost, (up to the value of the existing booking). This may be done up to 72 hours before your scheduled arrival.

-         New Reservations: All reservations booked between today, (16th March 2020), and 30th April 2020 can be amended at no additional cost, (up to the value of the existing booking). This may be done up to 72 hours before your scheduled arrival.
