Open for 11 and half months a year, Lyons Woodlands Hall Caravan Park sits proudly above the wooded hills of the Vale of Clwyd. Secluded amongst a mass of landscaped Rhododendron colour, the park boasts spectacular views of North Wales and offers the ideal retreat for either short breaks or a week of relaxation. This year more than ever, we feel our achievement is something to shout about!
What are the Traveller Review Awards all about?
The Traveller Review Awards are part of an annual appreciation programme that recognises booking.com partners for their exceptional hospitality. This is demonstrated by the review scores that travellers leave after their stay or experience.
To be a winner in the Traveller Review Awards 2021, we needed to make sure our average review score was super high (between 8 and 10) and that we had a certain amount of positive reviews left by travellers for that year.
Our review score for the Traveller Review Awards 2021 was based on the average score of our guest reviews between 1 August 2018 and 30 November 2020. This shows that year on year, our teams have been working on improving the park, facilities, and services – even during a time of crisis!
Why is this score important to us?
With the sheer number of people booking online in the past few years, we felt that this venture was something to be taken extremely seriously. So we ensured Lyons Woodlands Hall was in tip-top condition, with all facilities spruced up and Covid-19 safety measures in place. It certainly means a lot to staff that our efforts have been recognised, and that high-quality getaways have been enjoyed by the majority of our guests.
Park manager Pamela Astle said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be awarded the Traveller Review Award, especially by such an online leading bookings site. The quality of our guests’ experience is of utmost importance, and we’re glad that our efforts have paid off.
“We love hearing feedback from our lovely customers, it brings some brightness to our day. But we also take on board any feedback, and always look into suggestions guests make online.
“The pandemic has been a huge hit for hospitality and tourism, and we have done everything we can to make sure all parks are safe, while still offering a fun and relaxing getaway for those who deserve a break in the country. What does booking.com say about Woodlands Hall?
Lyons Woodlands Hall has been rated one of booking.com’s “top picks” for Ruthin, with an average rating of 8.4. Travellers have voted the park as “good for couples” and the most well-received facilities are Wifi, free parking, tea/coffee makers in all rooms, and a welcoming on-site bar/pub.
Booking.com reviews work by travellers voting an overall score for their stay, with the option to write a comment about their experience.
There’s a 🙂 section for good comments and a 🙁 section for ways to improve. Most guests loved the location, cleanliness and breakfast – and one guest even commented that the only bad thing about their stay was the fact they had to leave at the end!

A group of Zebras is called a Dazzle, and ZeZe certainly Dazzles with her hip dance moves and rocking smusic taste
The latest member of the Beach Buddies is ZeZe! After Leo, Milo and Hetty enjoyed the delights of Mombasa Beach and the Chalbi desert on their backpacking trip through Kenya, they made a friend in ZeZe, the sassy, rockin’ and dazzling Zebra. ZeZe has a natural flair for playing any instrument available to her and she loves writing songs for her friends. Much to the delight of Hetty who loves a boogie.

Milo loves to tell jokes… “Why did the monkey

A cheeky-chappie who loves to joke, Milo is enthusiastic about EVERYTHING! You will often see Milo bounding around park, full of energy. Milo absolutely loves all things bananas; Banana bread, banana cookies, banana milk! Milo’s favourite dance move is the “banana split!”, letting his creativity shine when he’s rapping and dancing, Milo loves joining Hetty in making up new, cool moves. The laughter never stops when Milo is around with his funny jokes, friendly pranks and infectious chuckle! Milo’s good-nature and zest for life, means you just want to be around him all the time.

Cool and smart, Leo is definitely,
the “mane” man!
Full of energy, Leo is a probably the coolest guy you’ll ever meet and he loves making new friends! You will often find Leo socialising with all his friends and hosting the best parties. Keeping active is Leo’s favourite way to spend his time! Leo will try any sport or activity from playing basketball and football to archery, becoming a master of them all! Smart, logical and grounded, Leo leads his Buddies, always thinking of games and exciting activities. You can’t help but smile when Leo is around.

When it's time to say goodbye
The quietest of all her friends with a big imagination, Hetty always has the most fantastical, creative ideas and believes that all dreams can come true! Hetty can often be found dancing around park and making up new moves with Milo for her friends to join in all her dances. Hetty loves all things colourful and covered in sparkles, her favourite colour is pink… all shades of pink! Baby pink, bubble-gum pink, flamingo… She loves them all! Kind-hearted and loveable, Hetty loves to meet new friends and giving them all a big hippo hug. You can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy when you meet Hetty.
