Clwydian Range
The Clwyds offers some of the most treacherous trails for mountain biking. Heathery hills in the area provide steep climbs with lush greens all around. If you prefer to stay on an upward trajectory, the northern part of the range is perfect. As you guide your bike across the different trails, enjoy this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which also includes Dee Valley. Meander through the More Famau forest climb the Nercwys Forest and bike to the villages of Maeshafn, Nercwys, Graianrhyd and Eryrys.
Coed y Brenin
Are you looking for all-weather trails for your mountain biking? Coed y Brenin has a network that is suitable for riders of all ages. The trails are divided into sections for different skill levels. Green and blue routes are available for beginners and families. For professionals or avid biking enthusiasts, the more treacherous red and black trails will do the trick. Riders with disabilities have options such as the MinoTaur Trail as well. This region is a woodland forest that sits north of Dolgellau and is a mecca for mountain bikers. Besides the multi-purpose routes, Coed y Brenin offers great facilities.
Penmachno
The trail is in Snowdonia National Park so you can expect gorgeous sights as you bike. Penmachno consists of two routes- Dolen Eryri (11km) and Dolen Machno (19km). Dolen Machno has some tough climbs and fast descents while the second loop has a better flow. Seasoned bikers will find the stream crossings, tight switchbacks and technical ascents more than suitable for an enriching biking adventure. The trail is quite remote, so bikers should carry sufficient supplies and spares.
The Marin Trail
The Marin Trail has some of the most stunning views of North Wales. Although it is a natural trail, it is well marked to make the ride a bit easier. Any decent mountain biker will find this trail more than satisfactory. It offers steep climbs, single-track routes and forest roads for a truly unique experience. The trail begins in Gwydyr Forest and stretches for 25Km with a 450m climb. Beginners may find the trail challenging.
