Don’t Miss the World Bubble Festival This Weekend

This weekend from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September head to Caernarfon for the fantastic World Bubble Festival. The event will see nearly 100 bubble artists from around the world descend on the town to entertain with bubble-themed activities and demonstrations. A family-friendly event, it is the perfect opportunity for a last minute weekend away to your holiday caravan!

The event is being hosted by the Galeri centre and Dr Zigs, the award-winning company who specialise in bubbles. There will be a whole manner of events taking place over the weekend, along with some Guinness World Record attempts! You can even join in with two of the efforts to smash current world records on Sunday 23rd September; the largest number of people to create giant bubbles in one place and the greatest number of people to produce multiple bubbles.

Many events will be taking place at Caernarfon castle and are open to people who want to join in with bubble mix and wands available, those who wish to take part can register at Galeri on the day for £2.

Some of the events taking place include Bubbly Maths on Friday 21st at 11am, a bubble and balloon show mixed with mathematical entertainment. Children will be delighted with the geometric bubbles, puzzles and much more.

You can also learn about the science behind soap bubbles, as research has been carried out by chemists, physicists, biologists and mathematicians. At 1pm at Galeri, Dr Cyril Isenberg MBE will be performing his lecture about the magic and science of bubbles. The event is open to over 16s only.

Families can get involved with the Bubble Rave at 10am on Saturday 22nd September, featuring music by DJ Ratik and V.E.N.O.M, and will include projections of digital art by Faris Nasir, a famous bubble artist from Malaysia. Tickets for the rave are £3 per parent and child with £3 per additional person.

From 12pm on Saturday, you can see mesmerising bubble art by Tom Noddy, which is accessible to all ages. See him make bubbles inside bubbles, smoke in bubbles and much more.

On Saturday evening, the World Bubble Festival will see an exclusive event where there will be performances from the world’s top bubble artists. Beginning at 7.30pm, there will be solo, duo and group bubble performances, spectacular tricks, live music and more.

The world record holder for creating the largest bubble will be appearing at the festival too, travelling from Philadelphia. Gary Pearlman said about the event, “Bubbles are not something just for children. The craft of creating them and then experience the thrill of seeing people of all ages enjoying them, being mesmerised by their shapes and bright sparkling colours gives me a great satisfaction as an artist.

“Coming to Wales to share the wonder, magic and the elegant beauty of bubbles is a privilege for myself and my fellow artists.”

Tickets for the events over the weekend can be bought on the Galeri website or at the Galeri centre on the day.
