Get Excited for Llandudno Transport Festival and Victorian Extravaganza

The Llandudno Transport Festival is the largest in Wales and one of the country’s most popular events, held on the May Day Bank Holiday from Saturday 5th May to Sunday 7th May. The festival takes place alongside the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, and both events are a celebration of transport and the Victorian heritage of the town. Our Conwy holiday parks are the ideal place to stay for those attending the festival.

The Transport Festival has several events over the three days where visitors can take a look at the vintage cars, buses, coaches and tractors and learn more about them. On the Saturday and Sunday, there will be a road run of several of the vehicles attending the festival so that you can see them in action. Most popular are the tractors! The Saturday run goes to the historic town of Conwy whereas the Sunday one takes a turn around the Marine Drive.

The main attractions of the Transport Festival are held on the Festival Field, where you can get up close to the vehicles. Kids will love seeing the old-fashioned trams, buses, steam engines and cars, and there is also a sales area where you can get antiques and model cars. The amazing variety of vehicle types on display at the festival is a testament to the history of British car manufacturing.

A shuttle bus links the Transport Festival with the Victorian Extravaganza held in the town of Llandudno, so you can easily get from one to the other over the weekend! The Extravaganza was founded in 1986 to help boost the towns ailing tourism industry. Llandudno was one of Britain’s first seaside resorts, and a lot of the Victorian highlights remain, the Pier being the most prominent.

The Extravaganza lives up to its name, as there is a lot of entertainment over the three days from live music, street theatre, maypole dances, carriage rides, a sandcastle competition, parades and much more! There is a funfair taking place, with loads of exciting rides for children and adults, and there will also be a Victorian Dress competition. Many of the shops and cafes in Llandudno will also be putting on a display for the window dressing competition, dressing their windows in a Victorian theme, so the whole town can join in with the spirit of the event.
