Top 6 Christmas Events in North Wales this Winter

With Autumn well and truly underway, the team here at Lyons are very much looking forward to some festivities in Wales this winter. Whether you’ve already booked your holiday and are already counting down the days, or you’re hoping for a spontaneous trip in the run up to Christmas, here are a few unmissable events for you to check out:

A Christmas market in North Wales

Llandudno Christmas Fayre

Llandudno is home to the biggest Christmas fayre across North Wales, with the event boasting over 165 stalls. The event will be taking place from the 16th – 19th November 2017 and will not disappoint if you decide to check it out this winter. The event is set in the ‘Queen of Welsh resorts’ and has lots to offer such as local food & drink, handmade gifts & crafts, craft demonstrations, an impressive Santa’s grotto and live entertainment.

Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway: Santa Trains

Travel aboard the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways very own Santa trains this Christmas! This experience takes you on a 13-and-a-half-mile journey that has loads to offer both adults and children. The journey starts from the harbour of Porthmadog and will take you on a scenic route up throughout the mountains of North Wales, and around woodlands, lakes and waterfalls, all the way to Blaenau Ffestiniog. The extraordinary views are guaranteed to impress, and there will be lots of festive fun to keep the children entertained, with Santa and his elves passing through to handout gifts, giving them an experience to remember! The trains will be running on various dates throughout December, make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Portmeirion Food and Craft Fair

If you’re visiting North Wales this winter be sure to check out the Portmeirion food and craft fair. The event is set in the beautiful Italian style tourist village of Portmeirion in Gwynedd and will be taking place from the 1st – 3rd of December 2017. The event holds more than 120 stalls with exhibitors specialising in local produce, music and cooking demonstrations etc. There are also plenty of fun festivities for children to take part in, such as the magnificent Christmas grotto, the impressive gingerbread village and, of course, the fairs very own elf dash, an exciting fun run for kids.

Conwy’s Winter Fest

This event is assured to get you and your family into the Christmas spirit. Set in the heart of Conwy town, the fun begins with the grand parade, which is led by the towns jester who is closely followed by a large group of knights in shining armour. There will be heaps of entertainment in the town square throughout the duration of the festival and plenty of quirky shops to explore. Conwy town is also home to a variety of local pubs and restaurants for you and your family to wind down in after a long day full of fun and excitement.

Wrexham Victorian Christmas Market

This Victorian-themed Christmas market attracts thousands of people year after year, and it’s no surprise with the huge selection of products that the market has to offer. With over 70 stalls selling various different things such as food, arts & crafts, clothes, candles, jewellery, handbags, books, seasonal plants, cards, and Christmas decorations, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect gift for all of your friends and family this year! Local producers will also be dotted around the market, taking orders for Christmas turkeys and geese, and selling a selection of the finest local cheese, beer and cider.

Surf Snowdonia Christmas Market

This year on the 10th and 11th of December Surf Snowdonia, one of many great attractions in North Wales, brings to you it’s very own Christmas market. There will be a wide range of different stalls for you to browse and when you’ve had enough shopping feel free to stop off at the real ale tent to refuel!
