Visit Llandudno’s MOSTYN Gallery for your art fix

For those visiting our North Wales caravan parks who love their holidays with a splash of art needn’t fret when staying with us. Llandudno’s MOSTYN gallery are hosting their 20th Open Exhibition which will not only show stunning pieces from national artist, but plenty of international artists as well. This years exhibition has attracted over 600 submissions from across the globe, all vying for just 27 coveted spots on the galleries walls. Its first viewings were this past weekend where four pieces from Wales alongside artworks from as far afield as China, Australia and America, to name a few, were shown, with all the final pieces being selected by a judging panel of experienced and highly regarded curators including Chief Curator of Whitechapel Gallery, Lydia Yee. From the final 27 artists whose work will adorn the MOSTYN Gallery walls, one artist will be chosen to receive the Open award of a whopping £10,000 which is entirely generated from submission fees. An additional £1,000 will be handed over to the artist who receives the most votes from the public during the exhibition, with Alfredo Cramerotti, Director of MOSTYN saying: “The selection of artists for MOSTYN Open 20 represents the continued rise of the gallery’s international profile. “We feel that the exhibition gives an opportunity to demonstrate that both the gallery, and the selected artists from Wales and further afield, are worthy of their place in an international context.” The MOSTYN Open has prided itself for bringing unknown artists to the public eye with their mission statement calling out to artists of any age and residing place to submit work, with the selection presented at at the Llandudno gallery. The preview evening takes place tonight (July 7) from 6.30pm. The winner of the £10,000 award will also be announced on the night. The exhibition is free.
