Things to Do on Your North Wales Staycation

The staycation continues to grow in popularity as an alternative to the expensive trips abroad. Summer is just a few weeks away, you are no doubt planning for the annual family holiday, and you need to look no further than North Wales. Just like the staycation, this small slice of the UK is becoming a hotspot for holidaymakers wanting to have an adventure, but don’t want to travel across the world to find it!

Bikes in North Wales

Make yourself at home in our holiday homes for sale, Ruthin, which is the ideal base for seeing the sights and visiting the various attractions of North Wales. No need to worry about what to plan for your holiday – we have some fun family ideas to help you make it a holiday never to forget!

1. Have a Beach Day

Though the UK is an island country and it will never take longer than a few hours to get to the beach, we still see the beach as a luxury destination. In North Wales, we are blessed with several stunning beaches and seaside towns that make for a great day out with the family. And if the weather isn’t too great, head to a leisure pool instead.

2. Visit Local Museums and Castles

We all know North Wales has many castles which offer loads of family-friendly activities, but the region is also home to a few museums to interest the whole family. It is always good to get to know the area you are staying in, and museums and historical places are a great starting point.

3. See a Show or a Movie

This is something you can do at home, and while you should try something new and different on holiday, it is always fun to do something familiar like heading to the cinema or the theatre to see some stand-up comedy or amateur theatre.

4. Go for a Bike Ride

You might have been saying for months you will get your bike out of the shed to head off on an afternoon bike ride, and a holiday will finally provide you with the time to do that. Whether you have brought your bike with you or have hired one out, a cycle through the gorgeous North Wales countryside is a great way to see more of it.

5. Go For a Hike

Walking is some of the best exercise you can have, and with beautiful Snowdonia National Park on your doorstep, you have no excuse not to go on a hike through the stunning scenery. Choose a route which is suitable for the whole family, pack a picnic to take and head out to explore the great Welsh outdoors!

6. Try Some Water Sports

In addition to Snowdonia, North Wales boasts a whole range of water sports activities. Make it your mission as a family to try something no-one has done before, such as surfing, white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking or SUPing. Doing something totally different on your staycation will make it one to remember!

7. Read a Book

You can use your holiday to simply take the time to yourself. Whether that includes lying out in the sun reading a book, it is entirely up to you. You might have a list of books you want to read piling up, and a stress-free staycation is a perfect time to start on a real page-turner, and also gives you time to yourself.

8. Have a Barbeque

If you have a big family staycation, a barbeque is the best way to spend time with one another in a social setting. Fire up a portable grill, load it with everyone’s favourite barbeque foods and relax in the evening sun. Why not get some marshmallows to toast too? The younger children will love trying it for themselves. Hopefully, our ideas for a staycation in North Wales will provide some inspiration for you to have a wonderful family holiday this summer!
