3 delicious mulled wine recipes

Mulled wine is a classic Christmas drink, and is the perfect drink to warm you up when the winter weather sets in. We have three mulled wine recipes which are a twist on the classic festive drink. You can enjoy these at home, or whilst you are staying in one of our North Wales caravan parks. Mulled Wine Cocktail – Serves 4-6 – 1 star anise
– 1 cinnamon stick
– 4 cloves
– 100g of light muscovado sugar
– 150ml of water
– 1 lemon
– 2 clementines
– 750ml of light red wine
– 150ml of Cointreau
– Twists of orange zest and a star anise to garnish Method: 1 – In a saucepan add the light muscovado sugar with 1 star anise, 1 cinnamon stick, 4 cloves and 150ml of water. Bring the ingredients slowly to a boil, stirring in the dissolved sugar.2 – Simmer the mixture for 2 minutes, then pour it into a large jug and leave to cool.3 – Add to the jug 1 lemon and 2 clementines, both thinly sliced, along with 150ml of Cointreau and 750ml of light red wine. Stir well, then cover and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.4 – Serve chilled or over ice, with a twist of orange zest and a star anise. If you prefer it warm, then just warm it through. Cranberry Rose Mulled Wine – Serves 4 – Cranberries
– 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
– 1 orange, sliced
– ¼ cup of spiced rum
– 2 cinnamon sticks
– 113g of sugar
– 4-6 cloves Method: 1 – Pour your wine, rum and sugar into a medium-size pot.2 – Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, orange slices and ginger.3 – Heat the mixture on a medium heat for 20 minutes, making sure you stir every few minutes.4 – Once the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is steaming remove from heat.5 – Serve immediately with an orange slice and cranberries for garnish. Mulled Wine White – Serves 4 – 2 tablespoons of orange juice
– Orange peel
– 85g of brown sugar
– 1 cup of water
– 1 cinnamon stick
– 5 cloves
– 1 bottle of oaky Chardonnay Method: 1 – In a saucepan, add the cloves, cinnamon sticks, orange peel, orange juice, brown sugar and water.2 – Bring the mixture to the boil, then reduce it to a simmer and heat for about 10 minutes.3 – Remove from the heat and stir in the white wine and orange juice.
