There is a chill in the air as winter is nearly here. Everyone loves comfort food, but what about drink? Hot chocolate is the perfect thing to warm you up when you are tucked inside one of our holiday parks in North Wales. Take a look at these three hot chocolate recipes which are twist on the classic winter drink. Cookies and Cream Cookies and cream is a flavour that any sweet toothed individual loves. In this recipe, the cookies are ground up and added to the hot chocolate and then served with whipped cream and Oreos on top. Ingredients: 470ml of milk
½ a cup of hot chocolate powder
Crushed Oreos (for topping) 1 – Warm up your milk on the stove over a medium/low heat. Make sure you watch it as you don’t want it to boil.
2 – Add the hot chocolate powder to the milk and stir it in.
3 – Grind up your Oreos very finely and then add them to milk mixture.
4 – Serve with whipped cream and add crushed Oreos on top. Raspberry White Hot Chocolate This comforting drink is made from raspberry purée and white chocolate. It is an elegant drink and tastes like melted berries and ice cream! The following recipe serves 6 people, so there will be plenty for everyone. Ingredients: 340g of raspberries
2 tbsp of granulated sugar
470ml of milk
120ml of cream
170g white chocolate (finely chopped)
1 tsp vanilla extract
A pinch of salt 1- Sprinkle sugar on the raspberries and toss to combine. Let them sit for 10-15 minutes until they soften and go juicy.
2 – Blend the raspberries in a blender, then pour the purée through a fine mesh strainer to remove the seeds.
3 – Combine the milk and cream in a saucepan and bring to a simmer, making sure it doesn’t boil.
4 – Take the mixture off the heat and add the chopped white chocolate and whisk until the chocolate has melted, and then add the berry purée, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
5 – Serve immediately with whipped cream and fresh berries on top. Nutella Hot Chocolate This rich and creamy recipe is perfect for any Nutella lover and is the closest you will ever get to drinking Nutella in liquid form. Ingredients: 85g of Nutella
14g of chopped chocolate
½ teaspoon (or 1 teaspoon if you like it extra thick) of cornstarch
Pinch of salt
235ml of whole milk
1- In a saucepan, combine the Nutella, chocolate, cornstarch, salt and milk.
2 – Place over a medium heat and bring to a simmer, making sure you continuously stir with a whisk until everything has dissolved.
3 – Allow the mixture to boil for a few seconds whilst stirring. The mixture should then thicken (should be thick enough to coat a spoon).
4 – Pour into 2 small mugs and enjoy!
