Rough Guides reveals the five best Welsh beaches among the best in Britain

The Welsh coastline makes a fantastic choice for a getaway destination, and the latest Rough Guides List of Britain’s Best Seaside Towns proves just this. With five fabulous Welsh locations listed, one of which being our favourite North Wales seaside resort, Llandudno!  Llandudno boasts the title of the largest seaside resort in Wales, and there is little surprise that it has been voted one of the best. Every corner is action-packed with an array of activities to keep you entertained. Regardless of age, Llandudno has something for everyone. The award-winning pier is paired with amusement arcades, funfairs, and ice-cream parlours, with the addition of a toboggan run and a mini golf course, this seaside resort has it all, and more. The picturesque location’s best feature however, has to be the miles of blissful beaches where you can truly relax and look out over the crystal waters or delve into the exciting water sports opportunities on offer! There is no need to go abroad when you have all this on offer right here in North Wales! The other Welsh seaside towns to make the charts included: Porthmadog, Gwynedd, which offers stunning views, alongside 22 kilometres of railway where you can experience the true beauty of the Welsh country on a single train journey. Aberystwyth, Ceregigion, with streets lined with Georgian houses and a Victorian camera obscure perched upon a hill, this historic town offers a delightful step back in time. Tenby and Pembrokeshire, proudly offer three blue flag beaches, a place that children’s author Roald Dahl loved to visit as a child and wrote about many times! Last, but certainly not least, Portmeirion, Gwynedd, offering a taste of the Mediterranean with the surrounding architecture, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped abroad as you walk along the colourful lanes. Why not take a trip to North Wales and experience these sublime seaside towns for yourself?
