Today is the day that marks National Pick Strawberries Day. The day is celebrated on the 20th May, every year. As summer is just around the corner, this is the perfect time to go strawberry picking while you’re on your holidays here with us at our North Wales Holiday Parks! It’s common for people to enjoy some good old fashioned strawberry picking from late April and throughout the summer, with the countryside being the ideal location to do this. When you do go picking for strawberries, you should keep your eyes peeled for bright red, plump and firm ones. We’ve also got some fun facts about strawberries that you can get stuck into as well, to help you celebrate. Did you know that they are members of the rose family, they are the only fruit with their seeds on the outside, provide a wonderful source of vitamin C, are low in calories and a good source of fibre, folic acid and potassium, as well as being low-fat? Originally, strawberries were grown in France in the latter stages of the 18th century. Before they were specially grown, they would have been collected as wild strawberries. So, now you know, why not enjoy some freshly picked strawberries and use the #PickStrawberriesDay hashtag when you post on social media to let people know you’re a strawberry lover too?
