Taking a beachside holiday is most certainly a relaxing experience, but did you know it has now been scientifically proven to be good for you? A study conducted by Michigan State University has revealed that living in or visiting a location where you can see a lot of open blue space, such as a body of water, leads to much lower levels of psychological distress. The study in question took place in New Zealand and took a look at the correlation between the view a person had of the ocean from their property and their health records. Other factors like wealth, gender and age were considered, and they found that living and staying by the sea further improved people’s mental health. But why is this? According to one of the co-authors of the study, Amber Pearson, the brain can process natural backdrops – like the ones seen near our static caravans for sale in Prestatyn – much better than other landscapes. This reduces sensory stimuli, which promotes mental relaxation. Frequent visitors to the seaside have noted that the smells and sounds of the ocean promote a feeling of relaxation. These senses were not covered in the study, but Pearson has admitted that more research could be done to see how all the senses work together to help people relax. So what are you waiting for?!
