Ruthin’s very own Joe Woodford and singing partner Jake Shakeshaft visited the town yesterday prior to the pair making their appearance in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden. The duo had previously been selected to represent the UK back in February, and Joe make the trip back to his home town to take time to do some filming ahead of the contest which you will be able to watch on your screens when the show gets underway in Stockholm next month. Joe, who is just 21-years-old, shot to fame after appearing on the hit BBC show The Voice in 2015. Jake, Joe’s singing partner was also a contestant on the show, and shortly after the show they decided to combine their talents and become a duo, and it seems to have paid off! Joe, who worked at Ruthin’s Ysgol Brynhyfryd, not far from our Ruthin Caravan holiday park, told the Free Press: “It feels incredible that I’m going to be representing the UK, and apparently I’m the first Welsh speaker to ever compete which is crazy! “I can’t thank everyone enough from Ruthin and all surrounding areas, if it wasn’t for their support I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Everyone at Lyons Holiday Parks will be supporting Joe and Jake in the quest for victory at the Eurovision Song Contest, and who knows, maybe 2016 could be our year?
