The great North Wales breweries series: Part two

Welcome to the second part of our North Wales breweries series, where we will be looking at Bragdy Nant brewery, located in the small village of Llanrwst, just a short distance from our holiday homes for sale in WalesBragdy Nant Brewery is relatively young when compared to some other breweries, having only founded in October 2007. However, this does not mean that their passion and ability for producing good beer is any less than other breweries! The brewery produces cask and bottle-conditioned ales, and the name Bragdy Nant is Welsh for River or Stream Brewery. They currently offer four different beers, which we have taken a look at below, in ascending strength order: Brenin Bootliquor 3.8% A light and golden ale, the Brenin Bootliquor was brewed specially for Plas y Brenin – The National Mountain Sports Centre located in Capel Curig.Featuring balanced hops and malt, it is incredibly refreshing on the pallet, and is available both in bottles and on tap. Cwrw Coryn 4.2% A more traditional amber ale, the Cwrw Coryn features a very lacy head. For those who are unaware, beer lacing is where the head sticks to the glass as the drink is consumed, and is often seen as a desirable feature for many beer connoisseurs! With a slightly malty taste and bitter overtones, it makes for very easy drinking!               Chwaden Aur 4.3% The Chwaden Aur is a lovely golden orange colour, with a striking contrasting white lacy head. You experience a citrus aroma on the nose and upon tasting, you are greeted with grapefruit and lemon taste with a biscuit-like undertone. Mwnci Nel 5.5% Awarded the CAMRA Champion Beer of Wales Silver Medal in 2010, Mwnci Nel is a special, dark winter ale. Not overly sweet, the flavour is dominated by burnt chocolate flavours balanced with hops. The strongest of the Bragdy Nant beers, it is not to be taken lightly! Keep your eye out for a Bragdy Nant next time you visit a pub in North Wales, and enjoy one of the finer beers produced in our back garden! Make sure you stay tuned for the next part of our breweries tours, helping you to find the finest tipples when you come and visit us for your next holiday!  Photo courtesy of Bragdy Nant Brewery
