As far as the nerve-racking event of the penalty shoot-out is concerned, the lads who represent Prestatyn Town FC, just around the corner from our Prestatyn caravan holiday parks, are the absolute kings of the peno in the cup!Last Saturday’s victory at Guilsfield was the Seasiders’ fifth successive penalties triumph, seeing them come out on top once again. A quick run-down of their success that is making quite the storm in the footballing fraternity reveals the first game against Bala Town, which ended in a 3-all draw in the Welsh Cup second round back in the 2008/9 season, which Prestatyn went on to win 5-4 on penalties. Next, in the quarter finals of the Welsh Cup, in the 2009/10 season, Prestatyn Town were held to a 4-all draw with Rhyl, whereby Prestatyn won 5-3 on pens. The first time that our Prestatyn boys had ever played in the Europa League and they won! They were playing Liepajas Metalurgs and won 2-1, however, because they were trailing from the home leg, it stood at 3-all at the end of the 90mins. So the 2013/14 squad stepped up, possibly with the luck of the previous players to step up in the seasiders shirt and won it 4-3 on penalties. The Rhyl boys don’t have much luck from 12 yards against Prestatyn Town, as, in the NWCFA Challenge Cup Final 2013 Prestatyn won 4-3 on pens following an epic 5-5 draw before they winner was decided on penos. Fast forward to this season and Prestatyn’s victims were Guilsfield in the Huws Gray Cup. After a 4-4 thriller, Prestatyn took the share of the spoils from the spot with a 4-2 win. If you like a flutter, next time Prestatyn play, stick your money on the seasiders to do the business for you! Image: CarlHogan under Creative Commons.
