Over the summer we held several open days at four of our caravan parks, Lyons Mounds, Lyons Winkups, Lyons Pendyffryn Hall and Lyons Woodlands Hall. We were able to raise an impressive £525 for local children’s hospice Ty Gobaith, an extension of Hope House in Oswestry. A huge thank you to all of our owners and holiday guests that made this possible, it was because of your great support and generous donations that made this possible. Ty Gobaith is a North Wales based Hospice giving aid to over 630 families across the North Wales Coast. As well as offering respite at the hospice they also offer respite in family homes, to help families get on with day to day chores that most people would take for granted. We got in contact with local Ty Gobaith fundraiser 13 year old Katie Lou, who recently received the Princess Dianna Award for all of her hard work and incredible philanthropic attitude, she was more than happy to perform in order to raise money. She has achieved so much in her lifetime already but that does not stop her from striving to achieve even more. Katie, who has enjoyed singing all her life, began her fundraising in August 2013 whilst she was performing at the Anglesey show. Katie decided to put out a collection box during her performance for Help the Heroes, after which she was approached and asked to perform at Menai Bridge where a number of Army veterans and volunteers ended their walk for a charity called WOW (raising money for Welsh Guards that suffered life changing injuries during wars from WW2 up to present day). This had a life changing impact upon Katie who went on to spend her time raising money for WOW, in total Katie raised in excess of £3500. Katie has gone on to raise money for a number of charities including Ty Gobaith, Newcis, Chernobyl Child Line, Cystic Fibrosis, Cerebral Palsy, Talwern Maithren and a number of other charities, if she is offered the chance to fundraise she will always offer to sing. Katie Lou has been travelling around North Wales to a number of Lyons Holiday Parks and blowing audiences away with her incredible and powerful voice far beyond that of most children her age. Over the summer Lyons held a number of fundraising events at four of their Holiday and Caravan Parks; Lyons Mounds, Lyons Pendyffryn Hall, Lyons Winkups and Lyons Woodlands Hall. Together they were able to raise an incredible £525 for Ty Gobaith. Lyons and Ty Gobaith look to continue working together, and have already set in place further fundraising activities. Area Fundraiser Amy Pearson said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Lyons Holidays Parks for supporting Ty Gobaith, a big thank you to all of the staff for their hard work and fundraising efforts and thank you to everyone at each of the parks who have contributed.” We just want to offer a special thank you to Katie Lou for giving up her time and helping us to raise this incredible amount. We would also like to thank all of our staff and exceptional owners and holiday guests that helped us to raise this incredible amount.
