The burger is a classic fast food that everyone can enjoy. There are so many variations, and with restaurants dedicated to just burgers popping up all the country, they are an ideal place to head to with the family when staying at our Wales holiday homes for sale.
Of course, in North Wales, we don’t do anything by halves, so there are some crazy burgers to try out in the region. Here are some of the biggest and best:
The Rocky Balboa at Route 66, Abergele, Conwy
Named after the man who loved a challenge, this burger is not for the faint hearted. It has six cheeseburgers stacked between two buns, topped with crispy bacon, hash browns and onion rings. It is also served with a side of coleslaw and a drink to wash it all down.
The XXXL Roadhouse Burger at Hickory’s, Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy
For the bravest burger connoisseurs, there is the XXXL Roadhouse Burger. It contains two burger patties, pulled pork, streaky bacon, pickles, Cajun onion rings, lettuce, tomato, the house sauce and American cheese. Try not to think about the calories!
Mine’s a Double JD and Coke, Simply Street Food Bar and Grill, Holyhead, Anglesey
There is nothing like this to be found elsewhere in North Wales, and one is definitely enough! This burger beauty was developed by chef Mark Roberts of Chuck Wagon BBQ. The Jack Daniels whiskey and Coke burger consists of two 6oz flame grilled burgers with JD and BBQ sauce made with Coke and served with fries and slaw.
Anglesey Welsh Black Beef BBQ Burger, Tom’s Hamburger House, Menai Bridge, Anglesey
There had to be a burger with a Welsh twist on this list, and this one hails from Anglesey. The burger joint it comes from uses Anglesey Welsh Black Beef for all its burgers, and this one comes with lashings of BBQ sauce. The mains are served with endless fries, so if you need more, you just have to ask!
The Shed Hot Burger, Burger Shed 18, Mold, Flintshire
The Burger Shed 18 consistently deliver gourmet burgers, and this is no different, including a hot beef patty, topped with spicy n’duja Italian sausage, chillies and American cheese. Be prepared for the spicy hot hit with some milk!
The Skyscraper, Big n Beefy, Rhyl, Denbighshire
With a name like Skyscraper, it is easy to imagine the size of this burger. The 24oz burger is piled with bacon, cheese, lettuce, mushrooms, onion rings and sliced tomatoes. We think you might need help devouring this burger – something the whole family can get their teeth into!
Dyl’s Falafel Burger, Dylan’s Restaurant, Llandudno, Conwy
Of course, the burger world is not just about the meat, and there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options to try too. Dyl’s Falafel Burger served with tzatziki in a sourdough bun with tomato and iceberg lettuce. With Dyl’s special burger relish and coleslaw or fries on the side, this will get anyone’s mouth-watering.
