Fun Family and Dog-Friendly Attractions in North Wales

North Wales is one big adventure playground for the family and dog, making it the perfect place for outdoor activities as a group. We have put together just a few of the things you can do as a family along with your furry friend, all of which are close to our holiday homes for sale, Ruthin.

take your dog on holiday to North Wales

Greenwood Forest Park

This is a great family attraction, and your kids will be delighted for hours with the endless activities available. The activity centre has something for all the family, from the people-powered rollercoaster, archery, a children’s play park and more. Dogs are welcome, as long as they arewell-behaved, kept on a lead and supervised at all times.

Sygun Copper Mines

There are few different underground attractions to explore in North Wales, but Sygun is great for those who want to bring along their dog. However, be aware there are a few tricky stairs to navigate first. But when you are down in the old mines, both you and your pooch will enjoy the cool air, spacious caverns and boat rides on the underground lakes.

Llanberis Lake Railway

See the sights of Snowdonia National Park at a slower pace on the Llanberis Lake Railway, and bring the dog too, for a small extra charge. The cute little steam engine toots its horn then takes you on a five-mile return journey along Llanberis’ twin lakes, past the 13th century Dolbadarn Castle, stopping for a while at Cei Llydan. Here you can enjoy a lakeside picnic and take in the views. A later stop takes you to Gilfach Ddu where you can visit the National Slate Museum and pick up a souvenir.

Walk Snowdonia Mountains

Though not a challenge for younger children, a walk through Snowdonia and up one of the mountains is a great outdoor activity. You may want to challenge yourself with Snowdon, the biggest peak in Wales. There are seven routes up the mountain, from the relatively ‘easy’ to the more difficult. Find one to suit your abilities and enjoy the stunning views as you climb to the top with the dog!

Coed y Gopa

The forest which overlooks the town over Abergele is a popular place for a dog walk, and also has a variety of wildlife to keep an eye out for. On a leisurely stroll through the woods, you can let the dogs off the lead as there is plenty of space to let them run free. You can also enjoy spying some breath-taking views of the coastline between the trees.
